Kia ora / Hello, we are the co-chief cat officers / owner operators of Purrs & Beans. When you visit, you will see at least one of us there; we run every facet of this business, from welcoming you on arrival and making your coffees to fulfilling your online shop orders and cleaning out litter trays - because you have to be hands-on when running a cat café!

We are a husband + wife team and a 100% crazy cat couple. We’ve been involved in the business since April 2016 (when it was operating as BaristaCats) before taking over ownership in December 2017.

This is our passion project - we run Purrs & Beans alongside juggling full-time jobs to keep New Zealand’s longest running cat café going. Everything you spend with us goes directly back towards helping us keep the lights on and care for our cats - your support supports us!

We’re extremely proud of how we’ve evolved Purrs & Beans to where it is today and the visitor experience we have come to be known for. We pride ourselves in being a high welfare cat café; the space has been set up with the cats’ happiness top of mind as we believe happy cats = happy guests! If the cats are feeling safe in the space this in turn means the humans that visit will have a purrific time.

It is our goal that everyone who comes through our doors enjoys meeting our furry family and sees that rescue, older, and / or special needs cats have the same if not more love to give, as well as learns some tips and tricks on how to have a meaningful relationship with our feline friends.
